Snap a photo of the places you find yourself reading and we'll collect them here as well.
To get responses started, I have found this summer that I love reading on my iPad. It is easy to adjust the font size, and if I find a word that is unfamiliar to me I can click on it and get a definition. In the past I just based my whole understanding on a word by its context.
ReplyDeleteI love to read in a quiet place preferably outside beneath a cool breeze. My kayak sometimes works, but water is a deterrent. However, I find myself in quiet at night after my Madeline and Jayce fall asleep, so I'm typically in bed when my time to read is available.
How about you?
I too love the picture of book stacks, forest, and contented child reading. This summer I have loved reading on my porch where every once and awhile I can look up and watch all kinds of birds at the feeders or bird bath. My very favorite, though, is to read in the dark--on my porch--using my IPad. I listen to classical music on Pandora radio and read a VERY LONG BOOK called PILLARS OF THE EARTH, by Ken Follett. Somehow, because of the rustic time period of the story--Wales during the time of monks and royal battles--reading outside seems the perfect setting. I think my birds enjoy the music as well. The frosting on this cake, though, is my dog lying beside me with her nose on my knee while I read. Mrs. H
ReplyDeleteMy son Colin and his family rented a home on Pleasant Beach in W. Harwich on the Cape last week and I spent 4 days with them. Daughter Devon also came in from Calif. -- coln, Jenny, Devon & I did most of our reading when the grandkids napped from 1-4 pm -- on the covered patio with the ocean and beachgoers in our view, as well as an osprey or two diving for dinner. So peaceful -- noted more books on the beach with readers, rather than e-readers or ipads. Love summer reading! Just finished "to Kill a Mockingbird" and "Copper Sun",a young adult novel of slavery in 1723 y Sharon Draper.
